Brighter is Better

When it comes to a Light Show, I assume that there is a basic principle that “Brighter is Better”, and a way to make things brighter is to put up more lights! 😎
To get lights to change color at specific times, you have to use what are called pixels. Pixels are individually color-changeable lights. When you wire these pixels together and connect them to a network that sends sequence information out to their controllers – you can create a show That. Is. Magical. And my simple thinking is – the more of these pixels you can connect and control – the more magical the show.
Now, let me provide you a little perspective. Last year, we had approximately 11,000 pixels in our show. Quite frankly, it took me a long time to figure out how to assemble, connect, p
rogram and sequence those 11,000 pixels. 🥴 But as I stated in my last blog, I am hoping to make this years show “better”. If “better” means “brighter” – then the answer to my problem is clear – add more pixels.
If all goes to plan (please know that is a huge “if”), our Christmas Light Show this year will boast closer to 55,000 pixels. Now, it won’t look like the Griswold’s in the gif above, but it should be “better” for sure. 😉
Closing Thoughts
As Christians, we all know we are to be lights in the world (Matthew 5:14-16). We also can make an assumption that “Brighter is Better”. So the question is, “How do we make our lives brighter?”
I am reminded of an instance in the scriptures. It’s found in Exodus 34:29. The context is Moses going up on Mount Sinai to receive the law from God. After Moses spent time with God on the mount and came back down to the people, the scriptures say that his face “shone because he had been talking with God.” It appeared so bright that Aaron and the people of Israel “were afraid to come near him.”
To make a light show brighter, you simply connect more lights; but to make our lives brighter, we must connect our lives closer to God. When we spend time with Him, take in His word, talk with Him, and live for Him – we will shine brighter. Not because of anything we do or have done, but because it’s a guaranteed result of being in His presence. And know – the closer you are to God – “the brighter your show” – and the more magical it will become.
