I just can't believe it - Christmas is Over!

Isn’t it amazing how you can work for something for what seems to be an eternity and then in what appears to be a matter of seconds - it’s over? 😞😥

There is a song in our show called Christmas Everyday. I don’t know if I want it to be every day, but I wish it didn’t seem to come and go so fast.

With all of that said, Christmas has taken on additional meaning for the Foster family. The season has always provided a time for us to glorify God and our Savior, Jesus Christ; spend time with family, give to those who are need, and many other traditional type purposes and reasons. However, the last two years, it has provided us with an opportunity to give back to our community and their families like I would have never imaged - and that has provided so many blessings for us in return. But it has also emphasized the time aspect of this Holiday. It takes us so much time to prep for the season only for it to

End. So. Fast.

So, I just want to thank everyone who came out to see our show or shows this year. I sincerely pray that it provided something good, wholesome, and positive for you and your family.

I have a few simple requests going into 2022. (1) Glorify God in everything you do. (2) Don’t judge me too hard for leaving a giant star on top of our house for a second straight year. 😜 (3) Lastly, plan to come back next year if the Lord wills for us to make this craziness happen again.

Closing Thoughts

My thoughts this week of how slow and fast time seems to come and go has led me to think about God’s plan to save man in a unique way. God spent thousands of years preparing the world for Christ, only for Him to live about 33 years, have a public ministry of approximately 3-4 years, for the ultimate reason of dying on a cross for you and me which lasted for approximately 6 hours, and then to be resurrected after being a tomb for 3 days. Finally, we are now in the “last days” waiting and have been waiting for our Lord to return now for approximately 2000 years.

I wondered this week if this concept of “how things seem to last for eternity but end in a brief second” applied to God.

However, I was reminded of 2 Peter 3:8:

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

This verse tells us that God’s perspective on time is much different than ours. I am not going to go into a theological explanation of why because I feel most of the people reading this blog understand it. One way to quickly explain it is that God is not bound by time. We (humans) only have a certain amount of time on this earth. The concept of time is important to us; but God has a timeless perspective because He is the one “who lives forever” (Isaiah 57:15).

As I reflect on how Christmas seems to take an eternity to get here each year, but then only a second to come and go; I have similar thoughts concerning the coming of the Lord. It may feel like an eternity until the Lord returns - and we may think that judgement will only take seconds - but the perspective that all of us must keep in the forefront is that there will be NO TIME after judgement. There will be “no time” to make things right, and there will literally be "no time" – only eternity.

I can’t wait for heaven and to be in the presence of God forever. We will never have to worry about the moment coming and going quickly. We will be able to praise God without ever having to worry about time. I can’t wait to get there.

Thanks for taking a moment to read this blog and supporting us as we continue Fostering the Holidays.
