The Star

Our light show is made of up of several “elements”. I have 2 mega trees, 5 matrices, 4 singing faces, 14 snowflakes, 16 arches, 6 mini trees, 5 candy canes, 2 wreaths, a spinner, and the list could go on and on. We also have 3 stars in our show. There are stars on each of the mega trees, and then there is a very special star. The star that is top, center of our show. There’s not as many lights on this star. It’s not as complex, and it can’t do the same patterns and sequences as the other two. However, it’s still very special to us – and thanks for taking the time to let me explain why.
It’s not special because it’s been on our roof now for over 12 months (don’t judge – you didn’t have to put it up there last year to know how difficult it will be for me to get down 🤔🥴).

It’s not special because one of our biggest fans, Izzy, told her Mimi this week how much she “loved that big star” and wanted to take it home with her, but decided “that may not be a good idea”. Those are both good reasons, but it’s not the reason.
It’s special because of who, where, and when it was made. You see, the frame of that star was built approximately 40 years ago by my father-in-law, and they used it for decades. Cassie would tell me about that star and its significance early in our relationship. It was a tradition for them to hang it on their TV antenna every year during Christmas. In the flat, MS Delta you could see for miles away. So, when I was creating the design for the show last year – I wanted that star (with updated lights of course) to be right in the middle of it all. And it not only plays a significant role in our show – it has a very special place in our hearts.
Closing Thoughts
Do you know how many stars there are in the universe? According to several websites (like theconversation.com) – there is no real way to know how many stars there are. However, they do have a way to estimate. They start by counting the number of galaxies in the universe, and then they multiply the number of galaxies by the number of stars in our galaxy, the Milky Way.

So, with all of that said. . .there are approximately 2 trillion galaxies and there are approximately 100 billion stars in the Milky Way. Using the formula mentioned above to estimate – most astronomers believe there are around 200 billion trillion stars (or 200 sextillion) or
200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!
That’s massive and more than my tiny brain can fathom but let me get to the really cool part.
I encourage you to read Isaiah 40:25-31, but especially verse 26 below:
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of His great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
I cannot put into words the perspective that this verse has provided me. I started this blog by talking about how special one star is to our family (not knowing where I was going to go with this blog) – but I was led to this thought. Our God is so Big, Powerful and Mighty– that He knows all 200 sextillion stars by name! Isaiah says, “not one of them is missing”. Incredible!
It’s why he says in verse 25, “‘To whom will you compare Me? Or who is My equal?’ says the Holy One.”
There. Is. No One.
It’s one of the many reasons we serve Him, the Almighty. And it’s why He deserves all the glory and praise we can provide Him every second of every day.
Thanks for taking a moment to read this blog and supporting us as we continue Fostering the Holidays.
