Have you ever known anyone who seemed to always have grand ideas or aspirations but simply didn’t have the capabilities to carry them out?

Well . . . Hello, my name is Aaron. 😫

Cougar Paw Shoes - They were worth every penny.

Tuesday, after spending approximately 8 hours on the roof, working on my grand, Griswold, roof lighting project for Christmas . . . I realized that my ideas were just too big for what I was able to safely accomplish. As bad as I hate to say it, I am moving to plan B (really, it’s plan C – I have already scaled it down once 😬). I feel obligated to pause and give a shout out to Cougar Paw shoes. They really do the trick, and they kept me safe. Physically, I am unharmed; but mentally, I am extremely disappointed and exhausted.

However, (Lord willing) the boys and I will have eleven months to plan our attack for next year; and potentially, eleven months for me to find someone with the right equipment to help me! 😉

Closing Thoughts

As I sat on the roof late Tuesday afternoon reflecting on what I was going to do next (plan C), I paused and had a moment of reflection. Spiritually, we have the same problem as I did yesterday – our aspirations sometimes are bigger than our capabilities.

This brings me to one of my favorite Bible heroes, Peter. I love the story in Matthew 14:22-23 when Peter walks on the water.

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”

There are so many great lessons to be taught about Peter’s courage and aspirations in the verses above. However, his aspirations were simply too big for his capabilities (spiritually).

This. Is. Us. We are Peter daily. God allows us to walk on water, but because of things going on around us – we take our eyes off Jesus and begin to sink (or fall).

However, don’t you love the next part? Verse 31 says, “Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him. . .”

This is the thought I want to leave you with today: Don’t stop having Grand Spiritual Aspirations. Your faith in Jesus will allow you to do amazing things for Him; and in those times when we start to sink, we can be assured that Jesus will be there with His hand outstretched.

We serve an Awesome God!
